Athlete Mario Bonello yesterday announced his retirement from sport after a successful career which brought him a lot of satisfactions.

It all came to an end yesterday at the Andorra La Vella city stadium where he won a gold medal with the 4 x 100m relay team, a silver in the 4 x 400m relay and a bronze medal in the 200m.

At the end of the day, he thanked everyone who had helped him all the way and hoped that athletics would continue to prosper in Malta.
