The next race on the calendar of the Malta Cycling Federation will be held on Sunday 12th June on the Zurrieq Circuit. It will cover 100 kms over ten laps. Cyclists will muster at 0700 and the actual race will start at 0730. It is expected to be over in three hours.
The circuit leads from Zurrieq to Maqluba, gets near Qrendi and returns towards Zurrieq on the Panoramic road. Most of the terrain is practically level.
This will be the first local race after two foreign engagements. There was the Malta Men’s Contingent which went to the Andorra GSSE where Roderick Muscat won a Bronze Medal for Malta and where our coach Roy Chamberlain received special mention from the Malta Chef de Mission.
There was also the Female team which went for the second year running to the Bedford races organized by Jon Miles. Here Stephania Magri cut o good figure but the opposition coming from eight countries was indeed tough. However each of the three Maltese contestants had the satisfaction of improving on their personal records
Applications for the Zurrieq Race should be channeled through the Club delegates.
