On behalf of The Island Sanctuary Association allow me to just say “well said!” to Kenneth Cassar (Animal Rights Malta) for his letter regarding strays in Marsascala (TMID, 6 June).

His comments apply to the whole of Malta, not just this particular locality.

When it comes to the authorities, it seems the only thing animal welfare societies can count on is criticism.

They forget that we are, after all, volunteers who willingly use our own time and resources to try to tackle a problem that they are responsible for, but which they do nothing proactive about.
