Thumbs Down for Virtu Ferries

Malta Independent Sunday, 12 June 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

From Ms J. Camilleri

I was very much disappointed when I arrived at Pinto Wharf to catch the Virtu Ferry to Catania to find that I was refused permission to board the vessel. The ferry was about to sail way before the stipulated time indicated on the ticket without prior notice! What a lack of responsibilty! Passengers should be called and notified.

To my astonishment I was told that I had no choice but to pay a further Lm6 for the ticket to be reissued, so the total amount I paid for one ticket was Lm41!

Also, if I hadn’t called the same day I would never have been told in time that my ticket was only valid for one day! Would it have required so much energy and time to tell me so when I bought the ticket? Again this is a clear example of lack of responsibility and the non-existence of Customer Care service at Virtu Ferries. The least Virtu Ferries could have done was to waive the extra Lm 6 charge I had to pay.

For the information of future passengers – be well aware that your ferry might be leaving sooner than you think!!
