Neptunes nearly repeated their first game win against Marsaxlokk as they dominated a lack-lustre Exiles side.

Although going behind briefly, Neptunes then took control and making full use of their man-up situations, they steered clear of their opponents to lead 7-1 at the interval.

Exiles were still on the receiving end after the break, though they managed a David Pace Lupi penalty after suffering four further goals.

In the last session, Sergio Afric put in Dean Camilleri in goal in lieu of Niky Gouder. Neptunes relaxed a little, also losing out in their final man-up, but by then it had long been a foregone conclusion.

For the second game running, Exiles failed to convert all their extra man situations.

San Giljan 5

Marsascala 10

San Giljan: K. Schembri, K. lanzon 2, K. D’Ugo, C. Bonello, G. Ghirxi, M. Zammit 3, I. Azzopardi, A. Borda, G. Farrugia, M. Pace, S. Borg, J. Spiteri, K. Grima Scott.

Marsascala: I. Bugeja, C. Spiteri de Barro 3, A. Galea, P. Privitera 1, C. Gialanze 1, J. Xerri de Caro, J. Licari 2, L. Grixti, S. Micallef, R. Cutajar 2, P. Fava 1, M. Spiteri, D. Ciappara, S. Farrugia.

Refs: M. Dalli, I. Sciriha.

This game, thought to be the closest of the weekend, went Marsascala’s way better than expected, as San Giljan had a lapse in the third session and at the start of the last one.

Both teams fared the same in the man-up situations, scoring twice on four occasions, and for the second game running, Paul Privitera missed a penalty.

Marsascala went 3-0 ahead but San Giljan were back in the game by the interval, after sharing play in the second session.

Then came the Saints’ debacle as Marsascala pulled away with a five-goal spree.

San Giljan managed to make the scoreline more respectable with a brace of goals till the end of the match, but were surely disappointed with the result.
