Goveani Resigns

Malta Independent Tuesday, 21 June 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

During an extraordinary general meeting held yesterday, it was announced that Dott Roberto Goveani had sent a letter of resignation from the post of President of the club with immediate effect. Till the next AGM, Vice-President Dr Kevin Deguara will be taking over the role of Acting President.

Among the reasons for his decision, Dott. Goveani said that the fact that he could not be in Malta as often as he wished due to other work constraints, made it very difficult to oversee the whole season campaign and to be near the team as much as he wished.

Another important reason he referred to as a motivation for his resignation were the MFA rules on foreign players which he said are still not in line with European regulations and has hindered his plans of supporting the team with further human resources he had planned to get from Italy.

The committee thanked Goveani for his assistance and for the experience garnered from his involvement with the administration of the club during this last year, ensuring that both sides will stay in contact to resolve some pending issues.
