Local Football: Floriana’s Da Silva Linked with Stripes

Malta Independent Tuesday, 21 June 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

Floriana’s Brazilian midfielder Andre Rocha da Silva is expected to be released by Floriana this season. And already Birkirkara have been linked with the player.

A spokesman for the Stripes said yesterday they admired the player and would probably be interested in trying to lure him if it was true that he was being released by Floriana.

In any case, the Brazilian is still enjoying his holidays abroad and is not expected back before the end of next week.

It is thought that Hibernians and Sliema had also included him as one of their possible targets at one time or another.

Meanwhile training with the Stripes on trial is a Brazilian player who had been a few season ago.

Hibs will not be retaining David Camilleri

Hibernians will not be keeping left flank David Camilleri the coming season.

The former Spartans and Malta midfielder had joined the Paolites on loan from Marsaxlokk in January but failed to make an impact in Robert Gatt’s side.

It is not yet known where Camilleri will be playing his football next season, but it is possible that he might return to his first love, Hamrun Spartans, if an agreement is reached on a deal with Marsaxlokk.

Camilleri had also been with Sliema Wanderers before moving to Marsaxlokk.
