The very first Actor’s Workshop semester came to an end in May, and 10 June was awards night, when certificates and personal assessment reports were handed out to all the students.
The Actor’s Workshop is the brainchild of acting couple and television personalities Mark and Louise Doneo who, for the last five years, have dedicated all their energy on television drama productions, focusing on bringing new faces and established artists together on the small screen.
Their experience in producing quality drama programmes has put them in the forefront of the television entertainment industry and gained them the respect of audiences and artists alike for their no nonsense approach to casting and cutting-edge production values which are very rare in the local television community.
However, their experience has also taught them that very few local artists are truly trained for television acting and that’s when The Actor’s Workshop was born.
Apart from catering for the absolute beginner, and covering the basics of acting-for-the-beginners classes, Mark has developed an interesting technique which is very popular with American Drama schools for his intermediate syllabus that focuses entirely on the individual’s potential, highlighting his strengths and weaknesses through constant scene work and workshops.
Nearly all the sessions are taped and the students are constantly reviewing themselves through constructive analytical sessions set up as part of their syllabus.
The Actor’s Workshop caters for children and adult classes alike and is open for absolute beginners as well as drama students and/or artists with some theatre or television experience who are serious about improving their technique.
July will see the launching of the two-day Summer Workshop for children, while the next Actor’s Workshop semester will start in September.
