Eight More golds for France

Sebastien Rouault won the men's 1,500-metre freestyle in 15:08.98.

Solenne Figues was best in the 200 freestyle with 1:59.49, and went on to help France win the women's 800 relay by fending off a brave challenge by Spain's Erika Villaecija in the last 200. France timed 8:06.37.

France's Alexandra Putra claimed gold in the women's 100 backstroke with a time of 1:02.33, and teammate Frederick Bousquet edged Italy's Mattia Nalesso to win the men's 50 butterfly in 24.30.

Italy's Elena Gemo won the women's 50 fly in 27.55, and Italy earned another gold in the pool when David Berbotto won the men's 200 freestyle in 1:50.00, barely ahead of Spain's Olaf Wildeboer at 1:50.17 and France's Amaury Leveaux on 1:50.40.

At the shooting range, three more women's golds went to France: Valerian Sauveplane took the 50-metre rifle prone, Nathalie Robin the 50-meter rifle 3 position, and Brigitte Roy in 10-meter air pistol.

Spain's Rafael Martinez Barrena sent the home crowd wild when he comfortably won gold in the men's floor artistic gymnastics event, scoring 9.313 points.
