Hibernians and Malta striker Andrew Cohen (picture) crowned a most successful season yesterday when he was named winner of two sections in the Malta Football Awards 2005.
He was voted Best Maltese Player in last season’s Premier League, as well as Best Striker.
A few days ago, he was also voted as Malta’s Footballer of the Year, apart from finishing as the League’s top scorer.
Twenty five journalists, 10 Premier club presidents, the 10 Premier clubs coaches and the ten Premier League club captains took part in the voting.
Like Cohen, his team-mate Essien Mbong also won two awards, that of Best Foreign Player and Best Midfielder.
The Most Promising Youngster award went to Alex Muscat of Sliema, while the women’s best player award was won by Rebecca D’Agostino.

Apart from the above awards, a special award was presented to Victor Tedesco, the former Hamrun Spartans president, because of his career in football.
The awards were presented by veteran journalists and among them there was also Peter Wilson, the president of the Sportswriters Association of England.
