Malta Association Of Private Training Providers

Malta Independent Monday, 25 July 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

The new Malta Association for Private Training Providers has recently been set up, with the main aim of providing a strong national body for professional training institutions and other private training activities in Malta.

The mission of the association is to work proactively with all those involved, including the government, education and training providers, industry and community organisations in order to ensure that vocational and higher education and training services are of high quality, provide choice and diversity and are well targeted, appropriately delivered and widely accessible.

In order to achieve this, the association will represent the private sector with government, education offices, industry and the public in general.

It will promote the widespread participation of private education and training institutions in national initiatives and also plans to disseminate information to and among members and from members to external organisations and the public.

The new association council is as follows:

president: Rosanne Galea, vice-president: Nick Callus, secretary: Simon Bonanno, treasurer: Antonello Capitta, communications and PR Alex Borg, industry liaison officer: Robert Mifsud and member Victor Agius.

The council will be elected for one year and at the end of each year, when the association has its AGM, new council members have to be elected from the association’s members. The newly-elected council will serve until the end of this year, when a new council will be elected.

Members of the new association are a group of training providers who have taken the initiative to get the ball rolling, as it is strongly felt that a body should be set up to represent the interests of this very important sector. One of the new association’s priorities will be to monitor ethical and professional standards, which will serve to give members of the public confidence in the quality of the membership of the association.

In the near future, the association’s council will be meeting the local authorities to establish useful links between them and the association. The aim of these meetings will be to create more awareness of education and training and how the model of private–public partnership can be implemented.

Founding members of the association are: CC Training Ltd, Computer Domain Ltd, Future Focus Ltd, Holistic Technologies Ltd, the Malta Institute for Computer Science, SSM (Logistics) Group Ltd, St Mark’s Institute and Universal Language Services Malta.

Organisations in the private education and training industry are invited to join the association and participate in meetings and events. The association is looking forward to continue increasing its membership, and therefore welcomes enquiries regarding joining.
