Malta Independent Tuesday, 26 July 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 20 years ago

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Anton Tabone, has written to the President of the Egyptian People’s Assembly, Dr Ahmed Fathi Sorour, to express his sorrow following the Sharm el-Sheikh bombing last weekend.

In his letter, Mr Tabone said that “The atrocities carried out against the Egyptian people and other nationalities in the peaceful resort of Sharm El Sheikh represent an attack on all peace-loving nations and against the values of human life. I am sure that Egypt will not give in to such violent and cowardly acts but will persevere in its confrontation of terrorism.

“While expressing my condemnation of these vicious attacks, on behalf of the Maltese House of Representatives, I extend my sincere condolences and strong support to you personally and all our colleagues at the Egyptian People’s Assembly. In these moments of grief, I assure you of our prayers for the victims and their families.”
