Malta 64

Monaco 85

Malta yesterday lost against Monaco on the final day of the European Promotion Cup for Men Under 18, thus having to be content with the sixth place.

The Maltese boys did not have an answer to Monaco’s fast and effective play and their accurate distance shooting.

Right from the start, Monaco forged ahead and Malta had to chase all through the match.

Malta did manage to contain their opponents in the second session, but Monaco still held on to their lead and, at the interval, they enjoyed a 44-34 score.

After the break, the Maltese had a difficult way to basket and fell further behind. With a hefty lead, Monaco opted for an open game in the final session.

They always had their treys to fall on when the locals threatened and Monaco coasted home to a comfortable fifth place in the tournament.
