William Chetcuti in 'Outstanding Athlete Scheme'

Following William Chetcuti's great achievement in the World Cup Series Double Trap Shooting Competition in Belgrade where he won the Silver Medal, and the resolution passed by the Malta Olimpic Committee Council on the 21st July 2005 approving the institution of the "Outstanding Athlete Scheme", the M.O.C. Executive met the Shooting Federation and discussed an interim plan to further improve William Chetcuti's chances till the end of the year.

The Executive approved Mr. Chetcuti's participation in the World Cup in Brazil in August, Lignano Sabbia D'Oro Junior Championships in October and the Dubai World Cup Final in November.

During these competitions, William Chetcuti will be accompanied by his coach Jimmy Bugeja and Shooting Federation's President Salvu Portelli.

The criteria for choosing an athlete in the Outstanding Athlete Scheme include continuously winning medals or placing in the top ranks of Olympic Games, Mediterranean and Commonwealth Games, GSSE, World and European Championships.
