It is true that this came in the wake of the various London bombings that took place, days before. As it is equally true that the security personnel did nothing to prevent further bombings from taking place – luckily, bombings which had no explosives with them and hence were not of tragic consequences as those preceding them.
But I feel it is disgusting that your leader didn’t even show any remorse with regard to the horrific incident that took place, in which various members of the police corps were seen, in broad daylight and with intention, literally pumping bullets in the head of that young Brazilian.
It is also true, and I concur, that it is a mystery how come that young, unfortunate Brazilian did not stop when he was ordered to. Isn’t it a possibility that the poor man simply panicked? If this were so, did he deserve to be killed and in such a manner?
According to the BBC World website, Britain’s Chief Constable has apologised to the family of the victim. Great! Is such an apology going to do anything to a shaken family? Or to the poor man himself?
The same website quoted a government source saying that the young Brazilian’s death is another one to be added to the toll of the bombers. No way! The Brazilian’s murder was not at the hands of the bombers but at the hands of those people who are meant to protect the interests of the people living in the UK. That Brazilian included! And the facts have proved otherwise.
I have nothing but respect for the United Kingdom. However, truth has to be said! We must not forget that the security forces, in the not too distant past, have created blunders in using scapegoats to cover up their incompetence. We must not forget the many Irish citizens from the Republic who suffered years of enduring pain and tribulation at the hands of the so-called British justice. Innocent individuals, hailing from the Republic of Ireland, have rotted and died in jails for supposedly bombing here and there! Others were kept in prison for many years before they were finally freed.
But for the young, innocent Jean Charles de Menezez, his freedom will only be in the hereafter.
