Insensitive drivel
From Mr A. Vella
Moustafa Megawer’s letter is exactly the kind of drivel that generates support for the extreme right fringes of Maltese politics (TMIS, 24 July).
In his long, arrogant letter, which in places reads like an al Qaeda communiqué, Mr Megawer tactlessly gloats over “England’s worst attack” and “the price paid by London”. He cannot bring himself to express the slightest regret or sorrow for the killing of 56 people or to condemn suicide bombings and terrorism. On the contrary, he denounces the war on terror!
Perhaps Mr Megawer is unaware of the growing resentment in Malta against Moslems in general and Arabs in particular. Callous sentiments like those he so eloquently expresses seem to justify the suspicion that many Maltese – even moderate ones – are beginning to harbour towards Muslims.
