Thanks To the Mission Fund

Malta Independent Monday, 8 August 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 22 years ago

I am a Maltese missionary with the Little Sisters of Jesus in Soweto, South Africa.

With our congregation, we live and preach the gospel with our lives, choosing to live among the poor people, in the very same conditions, following Jesus of Nazareth who redeemed us by taking on a poor person’s condition, making ordinary life a meeting place with the Father and bringing hope to our poverty and human misery.

Like poor people who struggle to make a living, we too look for simple jobs. At the moment I am working in a day care centre, where we have about 80 children, earning a wage of Lm60 a month. And here comes my thanks to the Mission Fund who has given me Lm500 to buy educational material for these children that I work with.

Some of this money will be used by a woman in our parish who has started a soup kitchen for street children and is only able to do this because of the generosity of other people. I encourage people to please send all their used stamps and used telecards and donations, when possible, to the Mission Fund, 72/2, St Joseph Flats, Triq il-Farinal, Mosta MST 07, telephone/fax: 2141-3664, because they are doing an excellent job, helping us missionaries in third world countries.
