AIESEC Committee to attend international congress in India

Malta Independent Tuesday, 9 August 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

The new committee of AIESEC Malta, elected last March, commenced its 2005-2006 term last month and will, at the end of this month, attend AIESEC’s 57th International Congress in Agra, India.

The new executive is made up of Matthew Caruana as President and directors Calvin Bartolo (Incoming Exchange and External Relations), Nathlene Brewer (Events and Conferences), Rebekah Manduca (Outgoing Exchange), Davinia Pirotta (Member Development) and Marie Claire Tabone (Finance and Public Relations).

The transition from last year’s committee is now complete and the board is looking forward to a busy but fulfilling year ahead, both on campus and in the local business sector. The committee’s aim is to ensure that AIESEC Malta continues to provide great opportunities for students to develop their potential and a quality service to local companies through AIESEC’s global network of 89 countries.

Between 24 August and 5 September, the committee will be attending AIESEC’s 57th International Congress in Agra, India. This is the first time that this prestigious congress is being held in Asia.

This year also marks the first participation of three new member countries, namely Afghanistan, Pakistan and Tanzania. The International Congress brings together around 800 delegates from all corners of the world in a unique celebration of culture, while discussing current youth-related issues and strategies to move the world’s largest student organisation forward.

The committee thanked the former committee for its valuable contribution and guidance: Natasha Vella, Calvin Bartolo, Matthew Caruana, Fiona Micallef, Marc Sant and Lara Selvagi. Thanks were also expressed to AIESEC Malta’s corporate sponsors, PricewaterhouseCooper, Bank of Valletta plc, General Soft Drinks Co. Ltd, The Island Hotels Group, The Eden Leisure Group and Bay Radio, for their continuous support.
