My congratulations, Ms Micallef, I refer to the opinion article Yummy mummy (TMID 8 August).

Glad someone is raising this issue.

It’s about time we stop ‘penalizing’ law-abiding citizens and giving the impression that it actually pays to behave irresponsibly.

The quicker the authorities wake up to this worrying situation the better chance it has to curb these and other abuses.

Something also needs to be done to promote a culture of self-control and more awareness of our responsibilities as a mature and educated society – which cannot be easy as I would dare to say that the opposite is actually evident.

All the more reason why we have to start somewhere without further delay.
