Football: Bart-Williams Presented by Marsaxlokk

Marsaxlokk’s latest signing Chris Bart-Williams was presented to the media during a press conference at the premises of Carmelo Abela Marketing, Mriehel.

The 31-year old midfielder said, he was pleased to be playing for a top club in Malta.

The level of Maltese football is not worrying Bart-Williams. He said he likes new challenges and is looking forward to the new experience.

The former Sheffield Wednesday, Nottingham Forest and Charlton Athletic midfielder was impressed with the players in the Marsaxlokk squad.

He said he knows that he will be under pressure to leave a mark on local football but said he is not afraid of responsability

Club president Mark Sciriha said he was pleased with the signing of the former England Under-21 international.

“He is our most prestigious signing and thanks to him we hope to challenge for the Championship in the future.”

Bart-Williams played Premiership football for Sheffield Wednesday, Nottingham Forest and Charlton Athletic. With the Forest, he played more than 200 games between 1995 and 2001. In December 2001, he joined Charlton Athletic. He stayed for two years with Charlton before moving on to Ipswich Town FC in season 2003/2004.

Last season, Bart-Williams signed for APOEL Nicosia in Cyprus.

He signed a three-year contract with Marsaxlokk.
