Rimus Riley recently signed a substantial export agreement with a leading French based mono-brand supermarket chain to supply various biscuit products.

This distribution network operates in 27 countries. The group has over 700 supermarkets and 300 distributors around the globe including America, Africa, Asia and Europe. The supply agreement with this international chain is expected to generate exports in excess of three million packets of biscuits per annum.

Kynan Muscat Scerri, managing director of Rimus Riley said, “This supermarket chain is based on the simple but overwhelmingly popular golden rule of providing quality products at a competitive price. This matches perfectly our corporate brand image and is therefore an ideal distribution channel for our products. We are very pleased that our locally produced biscuits have reached the shelves of such a prestigious international supermarket and distribution chain. Certainly, achieving this milestone fills us with confidence and optimism for the future.”

Apart from this, Rimus Riley Limited is now also exporting to other European countries including UK, Cyprus and Croatia. Mr Muscat Scerri added, “This is indeed a very exciting moment for us. We are looking forward to continue changing and expanding our manufacturing operations to service and meet the challenging expectations of both the local and export market we are targeting. The local market has had a tremendous influx of new imported biscuits since we joined the European Union which adversely affected our market share. However, our commitment to produce a quality biscuit at a reasonable price proved successful as the majority of our local customers remained loyal to the Regal brand nothwithstanding increased competition. I look forward to winning back more of the local customer to our brand.”

“We have also reached an advanced stage of negotiations with a German multinational distribution house whose products are sold in more that 65 countries. Concurrent with this drive in export sales, management is actively engaged in executing an investment plan to increase the factory’s output capacity and upgrading the factory floor with the latest production techniques. This will require substantial capital expenditure on plant and machinery,” he added.

Rimus Riley Limited has been manufacturing snack food, wafers and biscuits since 1975. It employs over 70 people and produces over 50 products. Among its popular Regal brand biscuits are Fig Rolls, Nice, Fully Coated Coconut Rings, Jam and Creams, Yoghurt Creams and Imqaret. Riley snack food favourites include Party Time, French Fries, Bacon Snax and Pizza Rings.
