It was interesting to note that the Prime Minister is now referring to the area pin pointed for the golf course at Manikata as “Ras il-Wahx” instead of its proper name of ‘Ix-Xaghra l-Hamra’ (TMIS, 7 August). One might put this down to a slip of the tongue, were it not for the fact that the Prime Minister was intent on relegating the area to a ‘rubbish dump’ and an area used
‘for offroaders’. I have no doubt that the choice of words was intentional.
This may prove to be a two-edged sword – I very much doubt that we’ll get the
fabled 30,000 tourists to play golf in Malta with a name like the ‘Horror Point Golf Course’. Or is this the Prime Minister’s way of promoting golf with a difference?’
