Court: Two Libyans Deny trying to cause serious injury

Abdulaziz Elmehdi Elgrari, 23 and 35-year-old Mohamed Ali M. Shanta, both living in Bugibba, were accused of trying to seriously injure Francis Grech in Pieta at around 2pm on 24 August 2005. They allegedly succeeded in slightly injuring Mr Grech.

The two were also accused of threatening Mr Grech both verbally and with a sharp pointed object, being in possession of this weapon without a licence and breaching the peace by shouting and fighting.

They pleaded not guilty to all charges and were remanded in custody.

Magistrate Jacqueline Padovani Grima presided over the court while inspector Mario Bonello prosecuted.
