I’m Becoming a racist

Malta Independent Sunday, 28 August 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

I refer to Raphael Vassallo’s article titled “Who’s afraid of Norman Lowell?” (TMIS, 21 August)

Mr Vassallo who? Don’t tell me he’s that cheerful joker! Sorry Raphael I’m not serious.

The truth is that I’m concerned about the Lm8 million expenditure, taken from our taxes, that is going to be spent this year on illegal immigrants. I’m frightened because our shores are not properly guarded. I’m xenophobic because a whole village from Africa is scattered all over this overpopulated island with all the problems that arise from this situation.

I’m losing my temper because the government has lost control of this situation (and not only this) and is not in a position to negotiate with the international community.

I’m in a rage because the Opposition is a reflection of the government or worse.

I’m hallucinating because Harry Vassallo of Alternativa Demokratika does not distinguish between a tourist and an illegal immigrant. I’m lost in the darkness because the do-gooders are concerned only on saving their immortal soul from the torments of hell instead of putting our nation’s interest first and foremost. I’m going to commit suicide because Norman Lowell is gaining much more support although the media is heavy handed with him.

Yes, I believe that I’m becoming a racist!
