Miller Disappointed with three players

National Under 21 coach Mark Miller yesterday pointed an accusing finger towards Alex Muscat, Trevor Cilia and Roderick Bajada for their failure to become members of the national seniors squad.

Speaking ahead of the match against Hungary tomorrow, Miller said the Under 21 squad faced more or less the same problems as those of the seniors’ squad. “Still, I believe I have a very strong squad and we will be trying our best to get something out of these matches, that is, collecting more points to the four we have obtained so far,” he said.

Speaking about last month’s friendly in Wales, Miller said that was a good game for his youngsters. “We tried some new faces and they were all impressive. But we are very disappointed with some players like Alex Muscat, Trevor Cilia and Roderick Bajada. After four years with us, we expected them to get much better after their early promise. They should have been in the national team squad today. That is why we invest in the Under 21 side – to produce players for the national team. As for the future, one player who might make the grade quickly could be Jonathan Caruana, a Hibs product who joined Mosta on loan yesterday till the end of the season,” said Miller.
