A few days ago, Malta experienced Super 5 fever, as the jackpot rose to an unprecedented Lm400,000.

It was eventually shared by three winners, although it remains publicly unknown who they are.

I agree that the jackpot should not be capped, as was previously the case when the lottery was organised by the Public Lotto Department. Now, under Maltco, the top prize continues to rise if no one guesses the five numbers.

Still, I believe that while the top prize should get bigger each and every week, the prizes for those correctly guessing four and three numbers should also increase. As it happened, those guessing four and three numbers on the day the jackpot was won received only Lm156 and Lm10.

Why not have a system whereby the top prize is raised, yes, but even the other prizes – for those guessing four and three numbers – are increased too?
