Malta Independent Thursday, 8 September 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

HSBC Bank Malta is implementing a diversity strategy designed to recognise and value the contribution of all individuals irrespective of gender, race, age, creed or culture. Overseeing the implementation of this strategy is Ms Louise Agius, who has been newly appointed head of diversity at HSBC Bank Malta plc.

“With 9,700 offices in 77 different countries and territories, HSBC has experience of embracing different cultures throughout the world. Societies around the world are themselves becoming more diverse and HSBC believes that a diverse workforce helps the bank deliver its full potential both as a business and as a member of the community. Louise has a great deal of experience in human resources and I am confident that she can drive and implement this strategy in Malta,” said HSBC’s chief executive Shaun Wallis.

Initially, the diversity strategy at HSBC Malta will focus mainly on gender equality and ensure the opportunity for equal career development. Additionally a diversity policy covering topics such as discrimination, harassment, disability, career development and dignity at work has also been implemented. In her new role of head of diversity, Ms Agius will be working closely with the senior executive management of the Bank.

“Helping to ensure that every individual at HSBC has an equal opportunity to fulfill their potential is a role which I am greatly looking forward to. Coupled with my responsibilities for learning and development, I will aim to implement the bank’s diversity strategy to the full, thus helping HSBC in Malta to continue developing and improving its internal working practices and external customer service,” said Ms Agius.
