It was apt that Carmel Camilleri asked Daphne Caruana Galizia, how many illegal immigrants she has accepted to host at her Bidnija residence (TMIS, 4 September).

As a member of the coloured race (her own claim, not mine), Daphne is expected to show special solidarity with these unfortunate people.

It would also be interesting were her fellow columnists Raphael Vassallo, I. M. Beck of The Times and others of like mind, to tell us how many of these illegal immigrants were invited to stay in their respective homes?

It is indeed unfortunate that their phoney defence of the klandestini (among whom are a number of tourists, other criminals and those infected with Aids and other contagious diseases) and their irresponsible depiction of the Maltese as the culprits in the whole matter, are turning the population of these islands against these uninvited immigrants, creating a racist society where none existed up to a few years ago.
