Daniela Borg Mizzi, manager Public Relations and Marketing Malta Transport Authority, in a reply to correspondence regarding the above, stated that the ADT was in the process of drafting a programme of work for the construction of our roads, thus allowing residents to know exactly when their road would be built and follow the process closely (TMIS, 20 March).
Tenders were issued for the construction of a number of streets in the Nadur area; Ms Mizzi had declared that these roads would be constructed by the end of this year. Hardly the case when all the workers are working hard to make sure that Her Majesty and all the dignitaries visiting our island will have a smooth ride around the island.
The latest tender to be issued (July 2005) was for the construction of Triq il Kavallieri ta Malta. What baffles me, and a good number of my neighbours, is that while our street, Triq l-Ghassies, is fully built-up on both sides, Triq il Kavallieri ta Malta has quite a number of vacant plots that have yet to be developed. There are also cranes and heavy machinery in this street.
Despite several letters, no explanation has been given on what criteria the streets are chosen for construction. The least we expect is an honest explanation on what is really going on. So please do let us know when we can expect our street to be constructed. In the meantime we still wait.
