A two-party system is surely not in the interest of a country and its people! The more parties there are, the more choice the voters have!
Just look at what has happened in Germany. Oskar Laffontaine was, until recently, head of the SPD. Some years ago he ran for Chancellor with the SPD. What is he doing now?
He is the head of a very young new party called the PDS.
He did not agree with the usual way of doing politics and how things are being handled right now.
He joined the PDS, a relatively new party in Germany, and already it is getting the highest number of votes in Berlin. Politics at present are very bad due to the bad situation in Germany. Five million are unemployed. Every year, 40,000 businesses close down! Social security and unemployment replaced with Hartz 4!
Also, have a look at the Green Party in Germany. How long has it been in existence and where is it now? It is still trying to make a difference. Yes, maybe it has developed from what it was 10 years ago, but it is still doing a lot of good work.
Where would Germany be with a two-party system?
There would be the SPD and the CDU (Red and Black). And what do these big parties do?
They point fingers at each other just like they do in Malta! One says this is good and the other says it is bad. But where are all the facts to underline the good and the bad? And where are the options for a better solution?
Germany was a great country until it was re-united. Do you think West Germany would have been what it was, with a two-party system? Now don't say “but Germany is huge and has a large population”. Malta is as it is and we the public should decide and help the politicians to run the country in our and the country’s interest! That is why we need a third political party and that is why Malta needs a party like AD! We need these people to help and protect Malta and us. We need a choice so we can vote in our and our country's interest.
