D 6 Handball Club has joined the ranks of the Malta Handball Association and will be participating in the National Leagues Senior (Men), Promotion (Men and Woman), and Boys’ U/16, for the forthcoming season, which commences on 24 September.

Both male and female squads consist of a mix of seasoned players with promising youngsters under the expert technical guidance of coaches Renzo Kerr Cumbo and Robert Portelli, both players of the national team, in charge of the senior and promotion male teams, while Joseph Tanti and Stephen Cilia will be responsible for the women’s and U/16 Boys team.

It is to be mentioned that Joseph Tanti lately played for one whole season in the Danish First Division Handball League.

The D6 Handball Club committee officials are Josephine Gauci, President: Ann Fenech, General Secretary, and Doreen Saliba, Financial Controller.

The club projects its activities through three solid principles, namely, love and enjoyment of the sport, loyalty and commitment to the club, and, last but not least, team spirit and fair play.

The name of the club is derived from a defensive tactic in handball, that is, when a team loses possession and six of its players move back to guard the goal area.
