It has been a number of months since the traffic lights at the Kappara roundabout have been switched off.
Since then, numerous letters by local residents have been written to the Malta Transport Authority pointing out the dangers and difficulties encountered by pedestrians in crossing from one side of the Regional Road to the other. Indeed, the problem has been acknowledged in Parliament by the Urban Development and Roads Minister Jesmond Mugliett.
Daily, one witnesses residents, workers and tourists alike frantically dodging the traffic in order to cross the road. Yet, to date, nothing has been done and all letters and warnings have gone unheeded.
A pedestrian operated traffic light situated close to the bus stop is all that is required.
Will the relevant authority concerned please name who will be held responsible for civil damages and criminal negligence, not if, but when, a serious or fatal accident occurs.
