From Mr John Caruana
I would like to thank Daphne Caruana Galizia for being so sensitive to the plight that the Sea Malta employees are facing in this so-called “saga” of privatisation. I have a close relative working for Sea Malta. He has two young children, a bank loan
and other financial commitments. He has been with the company for many years, and although nobody is owed a living, we
did not expect the government to get rid of the company and
jeopardise the jobs of the employees.
So Mrs Caruana Galizia, do turn the page or change the station whenever you see or hear a mention of Sea Malta. Evidently, you are not affected by this grave problem which has been created. Your “I’m all right, Jack” attitude does not apply to everyone, and your lack of sensitivity and know-it-all attitude has irked us badly. You cannot imagine how many people are against this decision by the government. But what do you care?
I used to buy three copies of The Independent on Sunday – for ourselves and our two married children. Our way of showing our disapproval of columnists such as Mrs Caruana Galizia, who seem to know it all, will be shown by immediately refraining from subscribing to your paper.
John Caruana
