Version 15 Of the Restaurant Manager POS system

Malta Independent Thursday, 22 September 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

ASI, a pioneer of the point of sale (POS) industry has released version 15 of the Restaurant Manager POS system. ASI has authored comprehensive, easy-to-use software for restaurants for almost two decades. With the launch of Web Services and the next generation of the patented, wireless Write-On Handheld, Restaurant Manager Version 15 is certain to make significant impact on the POS market while continuing to increase efficiency for foodservice establishments worldwide.

“Like the previous 14 versions, we developed Restaurant Manager Version 15 with direct feedback from our end-users,” said ASI CEO, Alexander E. Malison. “Restaurateurs told us what they need and we built it for them. Running a successful restaurant in the 21st century is more challenging than ever. At ASI we pride ourselves in providing sophisticated POS and management tools while keeping them intuitive and easy to use.”

Web services

Web Services are applications that convert a restaurant’s website from a set of static, graphical images to an interactive engine that generates new revenue streams. Many Web Services such as online gift cards and gift certificates, online reservations, online ordering, online reporting and online staff management integrate seamlessly with the Restaurant Manager POS system. For instance, when a customer places an order in cyberspace, rather than the order simply being transmitted via email or a fax machine, a Web Services online order will print in the kitchen through the Restaurant Manager POS system. This level of integration allows for accurate tracking and reporting of the new revenue centre as well as increased efficiency.

Additionally, ASI offers stand-alone Web Services that can function with the Restaurant Manager POS system. From affordable website design and hosting, to time-saving, revenue generating features like an e-club, e-reservations, e-calendar, e-employment forms and e-coupons, a website with Web Services will be a dynamic presence that gives customers a reason to visit time and time again.

What’s new with the Write-On Handheld?

With the launch of Version 15 servers are now able to accommodate split check, split item and split payment, all at tableside. Additionally, servers are able to process all forms of payment at tableside and print a receipt. Payment types include cash, cheque, credit card, gift card, guest account and even room charge. This new flexibility is especially helpful in deterring credit card fraud, as now a customer’s credit card never leaves their sight.

Since commercial release in May of 2002, ASI’s Write-On Handheld POS System has revolutionised order taking in hundreds of full-service restaurants across the United States. Unlike competitive handheld POS systems that use a cumbersome touch-button approach, the Write-On Handheld relies on handwriting recognition to create a POS system that works just like a pencil and pad. Waiters use the Write-On Handheld to quickly jot down orders, then instantly send the order to the kitchen over an 802.11b wireless network. Managers use the Write-On Handheld to do everything from printing checks for waiting customers to viewing the status of all open orders, from viewing real-time sales reports to receiving alerts when employees near overtime.

ASI Restaurant Manager is represented in Malta by Infomate Limited, of Testaferrata Street, Msida, telephone: 2132 2209.
