Karl Grech Orr successfully defended his title at this year’s Malta Union Club Squash Open. With some stiff opposition from several players from England, Italy and Egypt, Grech Orr proved once again too strong and consistent for his opponents.

The semi-finals produced some very entertaining matches.

Grech Orr had a struggle with Gordon Asciak before eventually over powering Asciak in the final game.

Rizzo, playing in his first Open semi-final, played extremely well defeating Brian Thomlinson, one of the visiting UK players, in straight games.

The final proved a one sided event with Grech Orr’s superior fitness and consistency proving too much for Rizzo.

Malta Squash secretary Liz Said presented a small trophy, donated by the Malta Union Club, to Grech Orr, after the final and thanked everyone involved at the Union Club for their help and cooperation in organising this event.
