Malcolm Mifsud And racism

Malta Independent Sunday, 2 October 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

Now, it is no news that Dr Sant is being labelled as a racist, or even a Nazi, simply because he said that the national interest is of paramount importance. Dr Malcolm Mifsud seems to be worried about Dr Sant's statement.

Well I am not; in fact I am rather happy that a big political party finally took a stand regarding the issue of illegal immigrants. As a Maltese citizen, I am worried by the present government and not by Dr Sant statement. Just for the record I am a floating voter who voted PN in the last two elections. However I can assure Dr Mifsud and Dr Gonzi that I will not vote PN anymore simply because it obviously does not care about the national interest.

Myself, and surely many other people have had enough of these months of Dr Gonzi’s government. Dr Gonzi and a few other ministers are being taken as a joke in EU, Libya, Italy and wherever they go.

How can I vote for a so-called Nationalist Party for whom the national interest is not important, when illegal immigrants are preferred to the Maltese?

I can give you a few facts such as illegal immigrants being given mobile phones, money, accommodation, work without work permits, education, health service, high-quality clothes, and so on – all for free, while the Maltese have to work ceaselessly to have a chance of coping with the cost of living.

Not to mention also cases of African invaders with AIDS, and being permitted to work as prostitutes. Does it make me racist because I do not want any fatal diseases in my homeland? What would you say if a man, who could be your daughter's boyfriend tomorrow, previously had sex with these illegal immigrants and passes AIDS on to your own daughter? Would you still consider human rights before the national interest? What about the rights of the Maltese?

In the article Dr Mifsud mentioned Norman Lowell indirectly. Well I can’t say I agree with Mr Lowell on everything. However I respect him as a Maltese citizen and on one issue he is surely right – that our country will be invaded in few years with the blessing of the present government. Now he is not considered a comedian any more, whether you like it or not. He is considered a threat because he might get a considerable number of votes if his party contests the general election.

At the moment, the comedian is not Lowell – it is the current government. I had a good laugh listening to the independence activities in Floriana. Dr Gonzi, told us he could not believe that we have such a good standard of living today, simply because he managed to plant some flowers in a roundabout!

It was also said that it was Mintoff's fault that the government-owned cars and buses cause pollution! Can you believe it? Mintoff is being blamed for the buses! Probably Gonzi and his friends need a few lectures to understand that a bus or a truck is not generally intended to have a 35-year life span! Surely it is the PN’s fault that the required upgrading of the public transport service was not done.

Malta is in deep trouble on any issue one can mention be it financial, culturally, jobs or security. If tough measures are not going to be taken, one can expect anything in the near future.
