Mr Alfred Mifsud (TMID, 14 October) arrived at the wrong conclusion in putting the Union Haddiema Maghqudin and the General Workers Union on the same footing with regard to the privileged position he says the GWU has with the MLP and the UHM has with the PN.
When the UHM was born 39 years ago, it organised a public service-wide strike – and the government of the day was a PN government.
Everyone knows that from 1987 up to today, with the PN in government except for two years, the UHM has ordered industrial action in practically all government departments and government entities, including the Freeport.
By writing in a generic way and not mentioning concrete examples of alleged privileges the PN is giving to the UHM, Mr Mifsud is shooting himself in the foot.
