Sugar-free Alcoholic drinks

Malta Independent Sunday, 30 October 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 22 years ago

From Ms R. Piscopo

Reference is made to the recent adverts of Love Bite and Mega Bite drinks in the local media. The adverts accentuate the fact that it is a sugar-free alcoholic drink. sedqa, the National Agency Against Drug and Alcohol Abuse stresses that while these drinks are sugar-free, this in no way lessens the alcohol content, and should therefore be treated like all other alcoholic drinks.

sedqa reiterates that together with the rest of alcoholic drinks, the above-mentioned products should not be sold to young people under 16, the same cautions should apply when a person is driving, and the same limits apply like any other alcoholic

beverage.

sedqa offers its alcohol services both within the community and in residential locations. People requiring help for alcohol problems can be referred, refer themselves to these services or access more information by calling Helpline 151, or the Alcohol Community Team on 2142,1814-5, or by visiting the agency’s website www.sedqa.gov.mt
