With reference to Angelo Micallef’s letter entitled The three party system, (TMID, 1 November) I would like to point out the following: From Mr Micallef’s numerous, repetitive diatribes it is evident that he believes in the “freedom of choice” only when it comes to choosing between different products at a supermarket! The idea of having a plurality of voices represented in Parliament, which is part and parcel of the political life in continental Europe is alien to Mr Micallef.

I would also like to point out that during the European Parliament elections campaign, the former President of the European Parliament, Pat Cox, warned against “Maltese-style polarisation” (the direct result of Mr Micallef’s beloved two-party system), since according to him it will lead to Malta being isolated in the EU. I rest my case!
