Unseeded Tomas Berdych upset sixth-seeded Ivan Ljubicic of Croatia 6-3, 6-4, 3-6, 4-6, 6-4 yesterday to win the Paris Masters.
Ljubicic saved three match points, but Berdych won his second career title with a forehand winner. The 20-year-old Czech's previous title was at Palermo last year.
Ljubicic lost a Masters final in five sets for the second straight time. Last month at the Madrid Masters, he had a two-set advantage before losing to Rafael Nadal in a fifth-set tiebreaker.
