The Badminton Association organises an annual fund-raising event in aid of the “Razzett tal-Hbiberija”. This is the association’s way of helping this noble cause.
Usually, this event takes the form of a half-day tournament. This year, the event is being given a new format: a twelve-hour marathon.
This will take place at St Martin’s College, Swatar, next Sunday, 13 November. Singles and/or Doubles matches will be in continuous progress over a twelve-hour period. The first match will start at 9am; the last one will end at 9pm.
The event is open to everyone: beginners, intermediate and experienced players, locals and foreigners alike; there will not be any age limit. Non-members of the association are also eligible to take part.
Entrance to the sports hall is free of charge. A “Donations Box” will be available in the sports hall for the duration of the event.
All the proceeds from this event will be donated by the Association to the “Razzett”.
Badminton Association members have been encouraged to approach their family members and friends for a donation; specific forms were made available for this purpose. The association is, in fact, offering a prize to the person who collects the largest amount of money from his family and friends.
The Association is invitingthe general public to support the Razzett tal-Hbiberija by visiting St Martin’s College and making a donation while the marathon is in progress. Donations can also be made through the post by mailing a cheque to the association’s postal address at PO Box 599, Valletta CMR 01.
