From Ms L. Vella
I hope that one day you will make up your mind about the language we Maltese speak Daphne.
You keep saying that we speak Arabic, I have to tell you that when I try to listen to the Arabic news on our SBS TV here in Australia, I have trouble understanding the news reader, yet I cannot say the same when I watch the news on the same channel in Italian. I seem to understand about 75 per cent of what is being said.
I have never studied Italian or Arabic.
Next time when you speak English, make a note of how many English words have originated from Latin or Italian, and other languages for that matter. Regardless of what one speaks the main object is communication.
