I refer to David Lindsay’s article in Focus (TMID, 10 November). The article refers mainly to a joint paper entitled: The Renewable Energy Potential of the Maltese Islands, which was recently written by a group of four scholars, including Prof. Mallia and myself, each contributing in his own field of expertise.

Although it is good and timely to diffuse the work of local experts on renewable energies in your esteemed newspaper, Mr Lindsay should have referenced his article. Copying and pasting large whole paragraphs from the said paper only shows a lack of professionalism and ethics.

Editorial note: It should be pointed out that the paper in question, which was placed in the public domain during September’s seminar entitled Renewable Energies in Malta and Beyond, was indeed referenced in the article. The paper was also referred to as having been drawn up jointly by members of the University of Malta Institute for Energy Technology and the Department of Physics. The omission of the names of the four individual authors is regretted.
