All Ages Eurochange 24

This was the debut for this season for both teams with the revamped NRG team prevailing on the current champions All Ages Eurochange, in an exciting game.

NRG started strongly and by the end of the first quarter they had opened a comfortable gap of six shots. All Ages recovered from their set-back and by turning their opponents’ mistakes into shots they managed to reduce their disadvantage to only two shots half-way through the match.

NRG regained their composure to end the third quarter leading 21-17. All Ages’ attempts at a recovery were not enough as NRG held firm to earn an important victory.

Ta’ Xbiex ASC 37

Kerygma 28

Ta’ Xbiex ASC and Kerygma also made their debut this season in this match.

The latter team started at a steady pace and by the end of the first quarter they were leading 13-6. The tables turned in the second quarter with the Ta’ Xbiex side making an impressive comeback to take the lead 17-14.

Kerygma failed to react, becoming too erratic in their passes, thus permitting their opponents to increase their lead to nine shots by the end of the third fraction. The last quarter of the game was the most balanced, with both teams scoring nine shots. This was not enough for the Kerygma team who only managed to take one point from this game, whilst Ta’ Xbiex ASC deservedly took home five points.

United 36

NRG B 29

The only second division encounter of the day was between United and NRG B.

The game started off at a balanced pace with the score being at a level of 16-16 by the end of the second quarter.

United were more determined than their opponents when they came back on court for the third quarter and managed to end the session in the lead.

NRG’s last effort to mount a recovery proved in vain as United kept up their good performance, to earn their first five points of the season.
