Qui-si-sana Car park

Malta Independent Saturday, 19 November 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

We would all like to see Qui-si-sana restored to its original glory. The state of the lido is not the only thing that has been left in shambles.

All of Qui-si-sana has been abandoned and those of us who remember how nice it used to be to swim in the area and have a stroll along the tranquil promenade, will have the shock of their lives if they visit the area today.

What many people have not yet realised is that the area will yet again be transformed very soon if the suggested car park project is given the green light. We all believe that this area does not need any more car parks given that the projects that are mushrooming around all have sufficient parking areas, both for the residents and for the commercial premises that will ensue.

If Sliema residents think that the demolition of the lido will give them the natural beauty that this shore once enjoyed, they have one big surprise coming their way in the form of the car park, that will not allow this to happen.

We must all wake up and realise what is happening around us. Residents in Sliema must stand up and not allow our lovely town to be raped of its natural beauty and heritage. As the name implies, Qui-si-sana was once a place that promoted good health, a place where the natural beauty of the Maltese shoreline could be truly enjoyed and admired.
