During the last five years, as the Bishop of the Diocese of Malindi, Kenya, I had to grapple with two problems.
One is that of six medical centres serving the people in villages quite far from the government dispensaries, for which I have no specific funds, and their future is always doubtful. The other deals with a secondary school that I was building gradually as the number of students increased.
But its need was so evident that we had to admit double streams for Form I classes each year. This has made it urgent to have more classrooms and laboratories so that the students may be allowed to sit for the final examinations.
As in the past, I asked for assistance from the Mission Fund of Mosta, from whom I received a cheque for $1,394.35. While thanking Mission Fund for their kindness, I am aware that many benefactors are continually contributing money, new and used stamps and telecards, which enable them help Maltese missionaries working in third-world countries. I’m grateful to all of them and ask God to bless their families and give eternal repose to their departed relatives.
