Siggiewi were missing Louis Camilleri for this match while Luxol had two absentees, Robert Azzopardi and Ritchie Schembri.

Steve Sammut started off Siggiewi with his free shots and his trey saw Siggiewi 8-5 ahead but Luxol recovered to, first take the lead, and then dominated the rest of the session, holding a 23-10 lead.

The second session saw Siggiewi opening up well and a 9-1 run to keep close at 19-24 but the Violets found their shooting touch They held to their lead, but Siggiewi recovered at the end of the session to reduce the deficit to 44-32.

After the break Luxol broke clear again only for Siggiewi to come back at 44-55. Both sides had alternate patches till the end of the session, with 64-50 to Luxol.In the last session Luxol held on to their lead. They had Chris Sammut a provider for most of the game as they increased their lead to make sure and start off their league trek with a win, leaving Siggiewi in search of their first seasonal success.

Depiro have beaten Pembroke twice so early in the season, after their win in the group games, over the MBA Shield winners. Once more Pembroke came a cropper against an organised defensive side, who used their fast players to perfection.

A good opening session ensured a lead for Depiro, despite Pembroke’s insistence, as Roderick Vella tormented the Pembroke rearguard. In the second quarter Pembroke tried hard to make up but Depiro’s treys kept them in front. At the halfway stage it was 33-28 for the Mtarfa side.

After the break Pembroke kept breathing down Depiro’s neck but Depiro still lead 46-35.

In the final session Pembroke’s insistence took them 57-56 in front but Depiro’s treys regained the lead and all Pembroke’s efforts were to no avail.At the end, Depiro’s free shots increased their lead and Pembroke threw in the towel as they could not get enough possession.
