“A faithful friend is a sure shelter
Whoever finds one has found a treasure
A faithful friend is something beyond price,
There is no measuring his worth” Sirach 6:14-15
It is with great sadness in my heart that I write these words about my most wonderful friend Susan. We have, for the last 20 years, shared so many happy times. We have laughed, shed tears and we have generally always been there for each other.
I was able to share Susan’s health problems and the wonderful warmth she enjoyed from her devoted family throughout her illness. She would tell me how much support and comfort her husband Lino and their two sons David and Carmen and Stevie and Albertine gave her by their continued presence. She knew she was greatly loved.
Susan fought with dignity with daily life, never giving in. She so loved the Convent of the Sacred Heart, her colleagues and pupils. It was her vocation. Susan’s determination to continue as normal was an inspiration to all and I believe she touched us all with her sincerity kindness, humanity and humility.
Susan was a woman who possessed Christian values and will surely be rewarded by our heavenly Father.
I will conclude by believing in what St Paul teaches us in 1 Corinthians 9
“No eye has seen and no ear has heard,
Things beyond the mind of man
All that God has prepared for those who love Him.”
To her dear husband Lino, her children David and Stevie and her mother Connie go my deepest sympathy. May she rest in peace.
