Many people think that the week that was is an impeccable example of what the island can do impeccably. It was absolutely world-class all around, and that is the general feeling.
So let us unite and show the world exactly who we are and what we can do. Let us unite in the name of our ancestors and in their honour, and show, as we have shown, that the island can clear the heights.
And may the blue Mediterranean wear the island as its jewel, a friend to all, with its culture, faith and efficiency, built by nature for herself; an appreciated jewel of Europe, which sparkles forever on the outstretched finger for all time,.
Happy the thought that in the vast eternity that lies ahead, Europe will look back on us with gratitude, and say that this too was our finest hour.
An injection of genuine nationalism, couched in idealism, is badly needed to help the island navigate the new waters of her destiny.
