Through this letter, I, once again, would like to express my thanks to all Maltese who are helping the Mission Fund. As Bishop of the Diocese of Umuarama in Brazil, I used the support I recently received in two ways. The first one is to reduce the misery, poverty and famine experienced by many families living in my diocese, especially during Christmas time. The second project is the support and the formation of my 19 seminarians.
May I appeal to all Maltese friends of the missions, so that they continue to help the Mission Fund by sending them used stamps and telecards, together with any other donations they can make. I would also like to take this opportunity to wish the readers of your newspaper and their families, a Blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year. Keep on praying for us missionaries from Malta and Gozo who are giving their services far away from their homeland. On our part, we promise you our prayers.
Mons. Vincent Costa
Bishop of Umuarama Diocese
